According to local sources, at least 16 people were killed and 48 others wounded following clashes that erupted since 8 November in Tonj between the Luacjang community and members of the Adoor, Baac, Thiik and Akok tribes of the Rek community.

According to the same information, the violence started when a group from the Adoor tribe stole cattle belonging to the Luacjang.

Ongoing violence should not be ruled out.
