In a statement relayed by the American organization SITE, the Shebab, a Somali jihadist group linked to al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility 17 November for the suicide bombing that occurred the same day in Mogadishu near the General Kahiye Police Academy (SSF 17 / 11/2020).
According to local authorities, a jihadist wearing an explosive belt blew himself up in a restaurant killing 5 people, including 2 police officers and wounding a dozen others.
Ongoing security reinforcement is to be expected over the next few days.
We recall that the terrorist group Shebab regularly carries out attacks targeting in particular the security forces, government representatives and civilians (see our previous alerts).
Ongoing violence is not excluded.
