Several movements have called for renewed rallies against police brutality to be staged from 18 November, specifically in Abuja and Lagos.

The protest movement has declined somewhat over the last few days, following the mass demonstrations held in October, which gave rise to reports of violence resulting in loss of life in major cities.

However, some rallies could still be staged in major cities in the south of the country.

In Abuja, we remind you that rallies are often held at the police headquarters, Eagle Square or Unity Fountain. In Lagos, the security forces were accused of opening fire on demonstrators at the Lekki Toll Gate in October. Spontaneous rallies had also been reported on the main roads, notably on the Lagos-Ibadan highway.

Security reinforcements should be expected. Incidents should not be ruled out. It is advisable to keep well away from all mob movements.
