Over the last few hours, the US Geological Survey (USGS) has observed several earthquakes measuring around 5.0 off the coast of Mayotte. The most recent struck 27 km east of Pamandzi at a depth of 10 km at 09:19 UTC today, 10 November.
As seen in previous years, seismic activity is sometimes seen to rise in the Mayotte region and can result in earthquakes, which are felt across the island.
