According to local sources, a protester was killed following clashes on the sidelines of an opposition demonstration on the Champ de Mars in Port-au-Prince 18 November. The security forces fired live ammunition and tear gas to disperse the protesters who demanded the resignation of President Jovenel Moïse and denounced American interference in the country’s internal affairs, at the call of the Pitit Desalin party (see our previous alerts).

A march led by Pitit Desalin’s leader took place from the airport crossroads to the US Embassy.

At least 2 other people were reportedly injured in a collision with a police patrol vehicle and a motorcycle during a chase on the sidelines of the demonstration.

Ongoing of demonstrations and violence is to be anticipated.

It is recommended to stay away from any gathering or movement of crowds. Overflows are not excluded in the event of police intervention.
