According to information relayed in the press, the leader of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) reported that the regional capital Mekele had been bombed 19 November.

A military airstrike presumably led by the Ethiopian army would have targeted the University of Mekele according to local sources.

Inhabitants also reported that an airport had been the target of an airstrike and that several people, including civilians, had been injured.

No further detail has been given yet.

The Ethiopian government has not made any comment yet.

In response to these incidents, an intensification of the Ethiopian offensive is to be expected in the short term in Tigray, while further TPLF rocket attacks outside Tigray cannot be ruled out.
