According to local sources, several explosions were reported on 14 November in the Eritrean capital Asmara as well as in Massawa. These were attributed to rocket fire from the Ethiopian Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). The movement had threatened a few hours earlier to attack Eritrea, which supports the Ethiopian federal government currently at war with the TPLF in Tigray (see our previous Ethiopian alerts). The spokesman of the Tigray Central Command had denounced the offensives of the Eritrean army since 13 November in Tigray, at the request of Addis Ababa.

According to unconfirmed reports, the Ministry of Information and Asmara International Airport have been hit by rockets.

No death toll has been reported so far.

As a reminder, the airports of Gondar and Baher Dar (Ethiopia) had been targeted by TPLF rockets during the night of 13-14 November (see our alert today).

In response to these incidents, an intensification of the Ethiopian offensive is to be expected in the short term in Tigray, while further TPLF rocket attacks outside Tigray cannot be ruled out.
