According to local sources, at least 9 people were killed, including a soldier from the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), and 3 others wounded 7 November following an attack by rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) against civilians in the locality of Kisima, in the Ruwenzori sector, 25 kilometers from the town of Beni (SSF 09/11/2020).
The assailants first assaulted a FARDC position before attacking the village.
More than 15 homes and a vehicle were burned in the incursion. Shops were also looted.
According to the same information, at least 6 civilians were found dead and several others missing 8 November during a second attack also attributed to ADF militiamen against the villages of Baeti and Mabuo, in the Beni-Mbau sector, in the same territory.
We remind you that the ADF have stepped up their attacks in Beni Territory in recent months, giving rise to an increase in demonstrations by residents protesting against the alleged inaction of the UN Stabilisation Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) and the local authorities (see our previous alerts).
Ongoing violence should not be ruled out.
