According to local Medias, unknown armed men attacked 3 November the Presbyterian primary and secondary school of Kumbo.
The attackers first had the intention to abduct several dozens of pupils as well as all the teachers of the school. The civil society of Kumbo and the Presbyterian Church quickly mobilized and succeeded to negotiate the release of the schoolchildren.
However, the teachers were not spared and between 6 and 11 of them were kidnapped.
The kidnappers asked for a ransom.
Some local sources said the abduction was made by the ‘Amba Boys’, separatist militiamen.
Cameroon’s army and local authorities have not made any declaration yet.
As a reminder, a presumed separatist attack targeted a school in Kumba, southwest Anglophone region 24 October. At least 7 pupils were shot dead in their classroom.
