The terrorist group Islamic State in the Great Sahara (EIGS) claimed 14 November via its propaganda agency Amaq the ambush carried out 11 November against a military patrol on the Tin Akoff–Beldiabé axis during which, according to official sources, at least 14 soldiers were killed.
The EIGS claims to have killed at least 20 soldiers.
This terrorist attack comes as Burkina Faso is in the midst of an electoral campaign for the presidential and legislative elections of 22 November.
We remind you that the security context is particularly degraded in the north and east of the country marked by the proliferation of jihadist formations, including the Group to Support Islam and Muslims (GSIM), Ansarul Islam and the local branch of the Islamic State in the Great Sahara (EIGS) (see our previous alerts).
Ongoing violence should not be ruled out.
