Former President Evo Morales (MAS) returned to Bolivia 9 November after spending time in Argentina in exile. Given that the protest rallies against the results of the 18 October general elections, won by the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS), have grown in recent weeks, further demonstrations should be expected all over the country in the coming days (see our warnings).

Therefore, MAS supporters could gather to celebrate the return of their leader, while opponents to the winning party could staged counter-demonstrations and continue to dispute the election results.

Such rallies could result in disruption and security reinforcements, despite the current restrictions on gatherings in force because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
